Excitement was high but expectations were tempered based on the struggles Chase had in the ECKC race at this track only 2 weeks. He made steady progress in practice from Wednesday to Friday but all that effort would amount to little as weather conditions changed with rain being the story throughout Saturday and Sunday. Chase struggled in Qualifying only able to secure 26th position. It would come down to the 3 heat races to give him any chance for a respectable finish in the Final. Consistency and staying out of trouble proved to be the ticket. Chase took two 16th place and one 17th place finish moving him up to 16th overall going into the Pre-Final. Maybe the goal of a top 10 finish was still alive. On the valuable inside line. All went to plan until lap 2 in turn 2 after making up a few positions on the start. Chase was punted from behind spinning him 180* and sitting in the middle of the track with the entire field blowing by on both sides. There was nothing to do but sit tight until the field passed leaving him dead last and still having to get turned around to chase the pack. From a distant 38th, Chase was able to make his way back to 26th, but no better. A two position penalty for an overly aggressive pass meant 28th officially.
