| The rescheduled final round of the ECKC would run today at the stunning new facility at Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. Chase hoped to take a shot at finishing the season in the top 10 in this new and extremely competitive championship against many of the best that Canada has to offer but the cards would be stacked against him unless he could pull off a stellar result. A couple poor results earlier in the year with a mechanical DNF and getting caught up in accidents had him directly behind the 8 ball with only this one final race to make it all happen. Chase gave it everything he had but the track was extremely challenging catching many of the top runners out searching for everything from the correct chassis setup to the right gearing and carb settings. To make matters worse, Chase's diabetes would sneak into the equation late in the game. He had a good BG level going in the the Final but looked fatigued in the final laps losing several more places from an already disappointing position. A 13.7 BG after coming off the track would help explain why. Chase would finish deep in the field and slipped 1 spot in the overall standings to 14th but, looking at the big picture, it was a successful series. He would miss his goal of a top 10 finish but it was still a very strong showing against 48 of Canada's best. Watch out next year! |
