This would be Chase's first time at the Florida Winter Tour. With 70 drivers from 20 different countries and only 32 spots on the grid, he would have his hands full. An early morning rain for qualifying meant a wet track that was slowly drying. Luck of the draw would have Chase in the first group of qualifiers. Almost no one in group 1 made the cut as group 2 enjoyed a far drier track. That left a 10 lap LCQ with the top 6 advancing as the only way in. Starting from 17 position, Chase had to go hard or go home. By lap 2 he worked his way through traffic and trouble to P-3. After a brief move to 2nd, Chase fell back to 4th at the end of the 6th lap when a red flag brought the field to a stop to clear an accident. On the restart Chase held his own moving up to 3rd with 3 to go. On the final lap with only 2 turns to go, a reckless move from the driver in 4th pushed Chase wide into the tire wall. Chase recovered but not until 2 more drivers made their way past leaving him to cross the finish in 7. It was a very tough pill to swallow and a long flight home but he learned a lot and will be back.
