Things didn't go so well in qualifying today as Chase hoped to shake down his new Black Star chassis ahead of the ECKC race in Trois-Rivieres scheduled for July 25. Minor glitches that arose in both practice sessions would mean he would be going into qualifying without any true hot laps completed. The decision was made to switch back to the Bad Boy chassis. Chase was rusty switching from kart to kart and not getting a feel for the track at speed. Qualifying would see him start the Pre-Final from the 3rd row. He would find his pace in the Pre-Final however and worked through traffic to finish in P-3. The Final would be a disaster. An incident coming out of the chicane on lap 2 left him nowhere to go but the grass. After hauling the kart back onto the track and re-firing, he made up some ground but with a huge gap just to reach the back-markers, Chase could manage no better than a finish deep in the field made worse by a 1 position penalty after an ambitious pass caused another driver to spin. He would go home with only 11th place points still holding down 3rd overall but losing ground.
