Today would see some of the strangest track condition Chase has experienced. Rain early would mean morning practice and qualifying in the wet. Chase would start the pre-final in the 2 spot, outside row 1. He would make a pass even before the race started in the warm-up lap as the pole sitter opted to try drys while the rest of the field stayed on wets. With the pole sitter not able to regain his position before the race start, Chase inherited pole and wouldn't look back. He lead flag to flag putting him on the pole for the Final. Things couldn't look better other than the tricky track. With ¾ of the track dry and the rest still far too wet for slicks, everyone fought for grip with the wets going away fast as the race neared the end. Chase would not be able to hold them off and was passed with a handful of laps left. He would come home in 2nd. Not what he had hoped for but a strong result none the less. Consistentcy has been the key as Chase is narrowly holding 1st place in he Championship. |
