It was opening round of the Rotax Max Challenge – a qualifying series for the Canadian National Karting Championships. Finally, the weather man would be cooperating. Chase had a reasonable day leading up to the final. Qualifying would not go as well as hoped with Chase only able to pull off the 6th best time in the field of 21 drivers but he would be able to fight from there. Chase would be caught up in a race long battle amongst 3 drivers swapping the 3rd, 4th and 5th spot while the top 2 drifted off into the distance. On the second last lap Chase would take 4th and closed down to the rear bumper of the final podium spot just as the race wound down. He missed the podium by only a kart length.
