Chase was excited about the opening rounds of the ECKC but no one was excited about the weather. The first race of the double header weekend would see temps just above the freezing mark, wind gusts approaching 100 km/hr, heavy rain and snow falling before the day was done. It was not to be Chase's day. After getting caught up behind an accident in turn 1 of the Pre-Final, Chase ended up back in the field starting the final from the 14 spot. A broken throttle spring in the first lap left him fighting with a sticking fuel peddle. After 5 laps of frustration he went wide in turn two with the throttle stuck wide open and spun out in the muddy outfield. It was clear already which of the 6 races Chase would be dropping. From here on, everything would count. Sunday would prove to be almost as challenging. Grip was very tough to find in the frigid conditions and rain would come and go throughout the day. Chase's tuner (and father) went with one jet too fat in the final leaving the kart a bit flat exiting the turns. Chase would just miss the top ten today coming home in 11th – his goal of a top 5 finish well off in the distance.
